Samsung Smart TV — IPTV Setup (Tizen)
Works on 2018 and newer Samsung TVs. Total time: about five minutes.

- 1
Open the Samsung App Store
Press Home on the remote → Apps. Use search (magnifying glass) and look for 'IBO Player Pro', 'IPTV Smarters' or 'Smart STB'. Install your pick — IBO Player Pro is our default recommendation for Samsung.
- 2
Note the app's device ID
Some Smart TV apps (IBO, Smart STB) show a Device ID + Key on first launch instead of a login form. Send us that ID on WhatsApp — we attach your subscription to it server-side, which is even easier than typing credentials with a remote.
- 3
Or log in with Xtream codes
Apps like IPTV Smarters take the classic route: choose 'Xtream Codes API' and enter the server URL, username and password from your welcome message. Channels and the 7-day EPG load in about a minute.
- 4
Set favourites and you're done
Pin the UK category, favourite your regulars, and the TV remembers everything. The app lives alongside Netflix and iPlayer in your TV's app row.
LG Smart TV — IPTV Setup (webOS)
Works on 2018 and newer LG TVs. Same idea, different store.

- 1
Open the LG Content Store
Press Home → LG Content Store → search 'IBO Player Pro', 'Smarters' or 'Duplex IPTV'. Install — all are established webOS players with solid reviews.
- 2
Activate by Device ID or codes
Duplex and IBO show a Device ID/MAC on screen — send it to us on WhatsApp and we activate it remotely within minutes. Smarters-style apps accept your Xtream codes directly instead. Either path, same result.
- 3
Let the guide load and organise
First load pulls the full channel list and EPG (60–90 seconds). Hide categories you won't watch to speed up browsing, favourite the rest, done.
Sony, Philips, TCL: If Your TV Runs Android, You Have It Easiest
Samsung and LG dominate British living rooms, but they are not the whole market — and if your television runs Android TV or Google TV you are in the best position of anyone. Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense and most current Sharp sets ship with Google's platform, which means the full Play Store rather than a curated TV store. Install IPTV Smarters or TiviMate exactly as you would on an Android box: no MAC registration, no activation fee, and none of the app-availability roulette that Tizen and webOS owners deal with. An Android TV is, practically speaking, an Android box built into the panel.
The catch is age and processing power rather than software. A five-year-old Android television often has less horsepower than a £40 Firestick, so a demanding player like TiviMate can stutter on the set while running perfectly on a stick plugged into the same screen. The rule of thumb: if your TV's own menus already feel sluggish, adding a stick will be a better use of £40 than fighting the built-in apps — and the panel carries on doing what it is good at, which is displaying the picture.
Will Your TV Run It? Model Compatibility by Year
The dividing line for both Samsung and LG is 2018 — the year Tizen reached 4.0 and webOS reached 4.0. Everything after it runs modern IPTV apps from the TV's own store; everything before it is a gamble, and the fix is cheap either way.
| Your TV | Platform | IPTV apps in the store? | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samsung, 2018 or newer | Tizen 4.0+ | Yes | Install IBO Player Pro or Smarters from the Samsung App Store |
| Samsung, 2016–2017 | Tizen 2.4–3.0 | Patchy | Worth trying — if the app will not install, add a Firestick |
| Samsung, 2015 or older | Legacy Tizen / Orsay | No | Use a Firestick or Android box — the panel is still fine |
| LG, 2018 or newer | webOS 4.0+ | Yes | IBO Player Pro, Duplex IPTV or Smarters from the LG Content Store |
| LG, 2016–2017 | webOS 3.x | Patchy | Try Duplex first; fall back to a stick if the store comes up empty |
| LG, 2015 or older | webOS 1–2 / NetCast | No | Firestick or Android box |
| Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense | Android TV / Google TV | Yes — easiest of all | Any Android player works, including TiviMate from the Play Store |
An older panel is not a reason to replace the television. A £40 stick turns a 2015 TV into a faster IPTV machine than most 2024 smart TVs manage on their own processors — the screen was never the bottleneck.
Smart TV vs Firestick vs Box: The Honest Trade-Offs
The case for the built-in app: zero extra cost, zero extra remotes, zero HDMI clutter, and instant wife/husband-acceptance-factor — the IPTV app sits right next to Netflix where everyone expects TV to live. For most households with a recent TV, this is genuinely the best starting point, which is why we recommend trying it before buying any hardware.
Where Smart TVs show their limits: television processors are built for picture, not browsing — scrolling a 7-day EPG across +34,000 channels is smooth on a £40 Firestick and slightly stately on a mid-range 2019 Samsung. App selection is also narrower (no TiviMate on Tizen/webOS), and TV brands occasionally rotate apps out of regional stores. None of this affects stream quality — picture and stability are identical — it's purely about menu feel.
The upgrade path that makes sense: start free with your TV's own app today. If after a month the EPG scrolling annoys you, add a Firestick (£30–60) or wire in an Android box for the main set — your login moves with you, nothing to rebuy. Households on Multi-Screen plans usually end up hybrid: box on the big TV, built-in apps on the bedroom sets, phones for the commute.
One Samsung/LG-specific tip worth gold: if your TV is older than 2018 (Tizen 4 / webOS 4), the modern apps may not appear in the store. Don't fight it — a Firestick turns that older panel into a faster IPTV machine than any new Smart TV menu, for less than a family takeaway.

IPTV on Smart TV — FAQs
What's the best IPTV app for Samsung TV?
IBO Player Pro for most Samsung models (2018+) — quick, stable and activated by Device ID so you never type credentials with the remote. IPTV Smarters Pro is the best-known alternative if you prefer entering Xtream codes yourself. Both work fully with every plan we sell.
Does IPTV work on LG Smart TVs?
Yes — webOS 4.0+ (roughly 2018 onwards) runs IBO Player Pro, Duplex IPTV, Smarters and others from the LG Content Store. Activation takes minutes; Duplex and IBO use a Device ID we link to your subscription remotely.
What is the Smart IPTV app (SIPTV), and do you support it?
Smart IPTV — often written SIPTV — is one of the longest-running players for Samsung Tizen and LG webOS, and the reason so many people search 'smart IPTV' as though it were a category rather than one app. It works by MAC address: you read the MAC shown on the app's start screen, send it to us, we load your playlist against it server-side, and the television picks it up after a restart. The developer charges a small one-off activation per device — that money goes to them and never to us, and we will always tell you before you pay anything. It is a perfectly good choice. On current Samsung and LG sets we usually suggest IBO Player first because activation is simpler, but if Smart IPTV is already running on your TV there is no reason to switch.
Will IPTV work on my older Samsung or LG TV?
If it was made in 2018 or later, almost certainly — that is when Tizen and webOS both reached version 4.0 and the modern apps became installable. Between 2016 and 2017 it is worth trying but not guaranteed. Before 2015, no — though this is not a reason to buy a new television: a £40 Firestick makes an older panel faster than most current smart TVs manage unaided.
My Smart TV app feels slow scrolling the channel list — is that normal?
Unfortunately yes, and it is the one genuine drawback of running IPTV on the TV itself. Television processors are built for a dozen apps, not for scrolling a 34,000-channel guide, so the picture is identical but the menus lag. Hiding categories you never browse helps a lot. If it still irritates you, that is exactly the case where a stick earns its £40 — and nothing about your subscription changes.
Do I need a Firestick if I have a Smart TV?
No — start with the TV's own app; picture quality and stability are identical. A Firestick or Android box only earns its money if you find the TV's menus sluggish on big channel lists, or your TV is pre-2018 and lacks the apps.
Why is the IPTV app not in my TV's app store?
Either the TV is older than the app supports, or the brand has rotated the app out regionally (it happens). Message us your exact TV model — there's almost always a current alternative, and worst case a £30 stick solves it permanently. Don't sideload random packages onto a TV from forum links.
Some apps ask for an 'activation fee' — is that you?
No — small one-off fees (typically £5–10) charged by apps like IBO or Duplex go to the app developers for lifetime activation, not to us. It's legitimate and we'll tell you upfront if your chosen app has one. Free options like Smarters exist on every platform if you'd rather not pay it.
Can I use the same subscription on the TV and my phone?
Yes — install on both; a single-device plan streams to one at a time, which covers the classic 'TV at home, phone at lunch' pattern. Simultaneous family viewing is what Multi-Screen plans are for.
